NBSC COMMEMORATES 21 YEARS OF CULTURE AND COMMITMENT
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) formally opened its 21st Founding Anniversary celebration on March 2, 2026, with a ceremony held at the NBSC Covered Court. The event followed the unveiling of the portrait of the institution’s founder, Dr. Maria Socorro Fama Olaivar-Acosta, and a gallery walk honoring former administrators who helped shape the college through the years.
This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Pagpasigarbo sa Kultura ug Panaghiusa: 21 Ka Tuig nga Panaglambo” (Pride in Culture and Unity: 21 Years of Growth).
The program commenced with the preliminaries, including the singing of the NBSC Quadro Tono. A performance by the NBSC Dance Troupe followed, adding momentum to the ceremony and formally ushering in the celebration.
In her opening message, NBSC President Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE, shared how her journey led her to the institution and eventually to the presidency. She spoke about leadership as responsibility and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to delivering the college’s mandate and accomplishing the goals it has set. She then led the ceremonial toast.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Juan Romeo Nereus O. Acosta, former Congressman of District 1 – Bukidnon. He began with a narrative centered on education and how it continues to influence individuals and institutions across generations. His message emphasized the enduring role of education in shaping both personal paths and community development. He concluded by sharing three life lessons taught to him by his mother: gratitude, commitment with follow-through, and service anchored in grateful servant leadership.
Francine Georgina A. Gamboa, RPm, represented Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque and conveyed his message of support. She described the anniversary theme as a meaningful reflection of identity and collective effort, noting that NBSC’s present standing is the result of shared sacrifices and cooperation.
Hon. Clive D. Quiño, former Mayor of Manolo Fortich and current Vice-Governor of Bukidnon, addressed the issue of normalized small compromises in society. He pointed out how seemingly minor ethical lapses, when repeatedly tolerated, can weaken standards and institutions. He emphasized that NBSC plays a critical role in shaping future decision-makers, educators, civil servants, entrepreneurs, and leaders, and challenged the community to stand firm in integrity and resist disservice.
The ceremony was attended by Councilor Rina E. Quino, Committee Chairperson on Tourism and Development of Manolo Fortich; Dr. Carina C. Acosta; Dr. Neal Bryan A. Rendal, Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Libona Satellite Campus Head; and Janus E. Mata, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President, underscoring broad community support for the institution.
Through the opening ceremony, NBSC set the tone for its 21st anniversary observance: grounded in its history, strengthened by partnerships, and focused on sustaining growth in the years ahead.
